several foil-hat scenarios come to mind. the sheriff is up for re-election, and asked his cartel backers to plant a few acres so he could look successful to the voters this fall. or the competition found out about the plot and leaked its coordinates to the feds to reduce competition.

Feds are involved one way or the other. Just like any major drug producing country in Colombia, Afghanistan, Mexico, actually, all over the world.

They don't have anybody to arrest because they are the producer.

Lord only knows how many pot plants are growing in those East Texas piney woods. 30,000 plants is probably only a drop in the proverbial bucket.

It was too young not even budding yet. Harvest time is late oct. LEO'S shuold have just keeped an eye on it untill then and sold it to the store fronts in Calf and CO. and put the money back into the county. Just legalize it and hunt down the meth labs with your man power.

Someone had 30000 pot plants in the woods in east texas ... and the cops dont show enough patience to wait for someone to show up and then arrest them so we can find out how the hell they managed to keep anything in the woods in east texas without it getting ripped off...
