    draw weight

I just got my bow restrung. I had the draw weight set at 60. I'm not sure what it was set at before, but it is really hard to pull back. I also had the draw length shortened by almost 4". Could it be because the sting is new, the draw length or is 60 just to much for me? I had no problem drawing it before I had the work done to it.

If your draw length has been shortened by 4", that is the wrong string or did youo purposely have it shortened by 4"? If it was purposely shortened to fit you, then the draw weight may have been way less that the 60#'s it is set on now. did not know you could shorten a bow more than 3" without modules, but I do not know what bow you have.

It's possible the stretch of your old string and cable caused your draw weight to slowly reduce over time.

If the shop installed the correct string and cable than you will need to reduce the draw weight of the bow if you can't pull it back easily.

I had my bow restung, draw length shortend and draw length adjusted. I got the bow a couple years ago, and only got to use it last year. It was set at 30", I am a 26". He set it as short as he could without changing out the mods, I have no idea what the draw weight was set at before. I know I had no problem pulling it back. I didn't think 60lbs would be that much. I am shooting a PSE brute.

I hate to sound harsh, but how in the world did he change the draw length by 4" if he did not change the mods on the cam. If the bow changes the draw length by changing mods, then he had to have changed the string length to change the draw length without changing the mods, at least that is how I would understand it. I am really not getting how the 4" draw length change came about without changing mods.

I may be wrong but doesnt the older brutes have the nrg cam which have draw length adj. like the newer PSE bows?

did you actually go to a reputable archery shop and have them measure your DL properly ?

You need to have the bow properly tuned and custom fit for you

Even if it's a 1/2" long/short, you will develope bad form & technique with a poor shooting style

It's the same analogy of playing football and wearing a pair of size 12 cleats, and you actually have a size 9.5 foot . Get fit for the bow by a professional bow technician who knows what he's doing

OK, I looked at the 2009 and newer PSE Brutes and all had 6" draw length adjustment with the inner cam, so no modules, just adjustment of the inner cam and string position on the cam so if the string length remained as the original length, then the old string had stretched and the new string is in specs and giving more draw weight. My bad on thinking there was nor more than 3" draw length change rather than the 6" the Brute has. If your draw length was fit to you then you should be good to go if you can get use to the draw weight.

This right here. Take the time and spend a few bucks to get it set up correctly for you, and you'll be much better off.

On some of those PSE bows there is a CAM setting that will affect your draw weight by 5lbs or more.

Take it back to the Pro Shop have him check the draw weight and make corrections.

I'm gonna take it by the shop next weekend, and have them adjust it for me.

Are there holes marked "L", "M", and "H" on your cams?

Those are draw weight adjustment holes.
