Looking for a good dinner prayer

Any good ones, easy for my kids to memorize?

    #2
I persenally don't care for memorized prayers. Prayers and thanks should be given from the heart and that changes from day to day.

    Just my oppinion of course.

Our children memorize the prayer for dinner, and they have several.... but their bed time prayers are more about what they are thankful for that day or week or whatever they want to talk to God about. Pretty interesting stuff they come up with.

"If you want to tell him something
You ain't gotta fold your hands
Say it with your heart, your soul and believe it
            And I'll say, Amen"

Bless us Oh Lord and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Very young children learn very fast with little prayers like:

Thank you for the food we eat,
Thank you for the world so sweet,
Thank you for the birds that sing,
                Thank you God for everything.

                or

God is great, God is good.
Let us thank him for our food. Amen

                or

                Come Lord, Jesus
                Be our guest,
Let this food to us be blessed.
                Amen

                  One of Dad's favorites:

                  Good God, Good meat!
                  Good God Lets Eat.
                  Amen!!

From a board in one of my aunts kitchens...

                        Good Bread
                        Good Meat
                        Good Gosh
                        Let's Eat
                        Amen

My 2 & 4 year olds know this one and I learned that young as well. This was the standard table blessing at most of the family meals we had. If it was a special occasion we would add something specific about the event before saying this. Both my parents were raised I'm German Lutheran homes and so was I (less German but still Lutheran).

Also, we have the kids lead the meal prayer now that they both know it.
