What's up with "the timer" battery indicator?

Hey fellas, I've noticed that even though I put in a freshly charged/new battery, the battery indicator will still intermittently show low power. When I hit the test function it goes back to full, but then shows empty again shortly after. I've noticed this on another unit that I have as well. The unit still works but I'm kinda up-tight about leaving stuff in the field that may or may not work. Anyone else have this issue?Click image for larger version

That is strange...wonder if the battery even though its new just doesnt keep a charge? Did you put in on a charge for full 24 hours first?

All 4 of mine have been doing that for over a year. No power issues, though.

Thanks fellas! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing. I JUST got this one from Karl at the TTHA last weekend and when it did it I was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

All of my "The Timers" do the same thing, but when you hit the test or other Program buttons you will see the level show full. I always carry a meter and check all of them anyway.Great product

Does it have a solar panel. That may be live solar feed?

I have three HCR timers that do the same thing and the battery never goes down.

Mine do that as well. Hit the test or program buttons and the true battery meter will show.

I have 18 of those timers and about 3/4's of them do that. They work fine either way.

There are two battery readings one for the feeder battery and one for the timer battery. Which one is acting up?

I have a couple and they both do the same thing. One is at least 5 or 6 years old and other that that, it has performed just fine.
