The Perseid meteor shower is coming up this weekend. Peaks on the night of the 11th and the morning of the 12th looking northeast in the early morning hours will be the best time. Supposed to be around 80 per hour. That will be under the best conditions though away from city lights and all the light polution. I seen two lastnight leaving work seen one at 0345 walking out and another on the drive hm about 0410. Its pretty cool for the kiddos, I used to wake my daughter up in the morning to watch them.

I've got a few good photographs of meteors and star trails from back in the day of film cameras. I get too much "noise" when I try to take long exposures with digital. Thanks for posting this. I might try and take a few more shots this weekend. Even if I don't photograph them, they're a lot of fun to watch. -
