This evening due to the rain a buddy and I went to Gander to shoot at their indoor range. When we were leaving we hear somebody blowing duck calls (not very good) so we walked over to see what was going on. There was a guy in there opening each duck call and blowing it then putting it back before opening the next one. He did this for about 15-20 different calls. We asked the guy in the front why they didnt make him stop and the guy just said that their managers never made them stop and that they had about 2 or three people a week that come in and do that. I guess what I'm trying to say is clean all your calls before blowing them if you buy one from Gander.

I did that one time, but was quickly asked to leave the store. Didn't blow 15-20. Just the first one. I went back the next day and bought it.

I understand wanting to know what a call sounds like before you buy it, but I thought blowing every call they had over there was a little much

I did that one time in academy, tried 3 then bought one.

I think more stores should have demo calls for this. Have alcohol pads available for wipe down and sign a release of liability waiver. Just in case someone catches the itch I would buy more calls if I could test them first.

i would just say it wasn't worth the trouble if we had to do that lol.

I'd never buy a call without blowing it first....never been in a store that didn't allow it. I see no need to blow them all, but I'd dang sure wanna hear the one I was planning on buying. Everybody knows all you have to do is wipe the barrel end on your shirt and it'll kill all germs....buncha citified germaphobes.


BTW....I would NEVER put a turkey diaphragm call in my mouth without disinfecting it.
