I had trouble with the same knife. The durability was good but the blade lock failed and cut my finger pretty good. I switched to Colombia River Knife and Tool M16. It has a double lock.
Good thing Gerber has worked for ya.

I forgot my swingblade at home year before last, and all I had was a knife like yours. I gutted, skinned, and quartered a doe with it, and it worked great.

I carry three of them on patrol with me every day. If you need to lose it, I will gladly carry it on patrol with me for ya!! Haha I love my gerbers.

I can also attest to the fact that Gerber is one fine knife, it's the only knife I've lost in 10 yrs, I've had some that you couldn't throw away, but the good ones are the only ones that get lost.

I went through two of them over a two year period of time. The first one the tip broke off trying to unscrew something I shouldn't have been trying to unscrew. The second one, I left in my tackle box after a saltwater trip, remembered about a week later and it was rusted all to hell! Great knives, I usually buy Gerbers.
