I'm assuming you have taken Hunters ed? The class is VERY elementary, as it is.

One could easily compare Hunters education class with defensive driving. Everyone takes a quick test at the end as a group with access to all the answers.

The purpose of the LSBA is to promote and preserve bowhunting in Texas. We feel that more women and children would be able to bowhunt if the minimum draw weight was lowered. Our research shows that many other states have a lower minimum draw weight than Texas or no minimum at all.

Some LSBA members are opposed to lowering the draw weight and some of our members want to eliminate any minimum. Many members would not be opposed to lowering the minimum draw weight as long as game animals could be harvested in a quick and humane manner.

TPWD prides itself on making wildlife and habitat decisions based on science. We ask them to make this decision based on science too.

Here's the operative sentence in the letter we sent TPWD back in June.

"If Texas Parks and Wildlife determines that the draw weight requirement could be lowered without a negative impact on wildlife resources, the LSBA would not oppose such an action."

Bob, is this an official letter to TPWD or is this FYI to the members of Texasbowhunter.com?

Kevin, not trying to speak for Bob but I think it's the later and just an FYI for everyone here.

Interesting that it's currently about 50/50 on making a change of some sort but the majority don't seem to support completely doing away with a minimum.

Roxanne is 40 mother of 4 & cannot pull 40#

Roxanne is a lovely lady Archer and bowhunter

She is but 4'10' mother of four about 40+ and CANNOT DRAW 40# if her life depended on it!

She is the Kerrville Indoor ladies Champ too. out shot most of the men & Tink too!

She is never in her life time going to be able to pull40# Never

She did however drive her arrow clear thru this Monster hog this fall with her 31# Mathews Mustang Compound bow

note the blood on-the arrow. Her gear like Ty and Jasmine and other is deadly I mean deadly

yet some old pinheads think that 40# draw is required to kill our little toy sized Texas deer.

          Which is more deadly boys?

a 31# bow that a shooter can make a vital shot every time at 15 yards or

a 40# Bow she cannot control and more than likely will make a gut shot or leg hit??

I Would like to see the guys who favor 40# bows and think 30# bows are toys to let Roxanne shoot at you at 20 yards with her Mustang and a Magnus Stinger Broadhead.

Better get a good look at the arrow as it comes at you, as it will be a pass thru your chest in a split second.

          Who is first guys?

Congrats Roxanne on her great bow kill made with a mere 31# bow.

          Hog is still dead too!

          Tink

Sharp broadheads kill game not bows

No one has ever killed an animal with a bow. never!

most kills result of well-sharpened Broadhead arrows hitting and cutting vital organs. The arrow did the killing not the bow

If you wanted to reduce a low wounding rate how about requiring all bow hunters to use razor sharp broadheads?

            Food for thought........................................... ......................

            Tink

PS All of the below game was killed with arrows shot from bows under 40#

they look pretty dead to me....

The 7 year old Kid w as my son Jeff who was usign a 30# Howatt Hi Speedr recurve bow, 5/16" PO Ceda wooden arrow and Well sharpend Black Diamond broadheads

            two pass thrus!!!!
