Remington Quality Issue

I too bought a new camo 870 supermag recently that locks up with certain ammo. I have been a loyal Remington shooter my entire life but after doing some research on the web, I found this problem to be dating back for several years and they still havent corrected it!!! I am a QA inspector and believe that the chain discount stores have drove the price down to where there is no QA process in place, they problably put a trainee machinst on these lines and pump out the guns as fast as they will go!

I'm not a fan of newer Remington shotguns but i do have a 870 wing master from the 70's that I love. The reason I don't like the new shotguns is I bought my brother a Remington 1187 a few years ago and It was junk. Took it out of the box and didn't even cycle the first shell. I had a tough time bringing it back but eventually the store refunded my money and I bought a beretta for him instead.

There is a CNBC Original (Remington Under Fire) documentry about Remington having a quality issue with it's 700 rifle many years ago that would allow the gun to fire accidently causing many deaths and injuries. The issue with the 700 wasn't resolved by Remington for many years due to high costs to recall and re-engineer the safety and firing mechanism on the rifle. I saw this on Netflix a few months ago.

That and plastic parts make it cheaper and no where as reliable as the 870.
Those two problems are only compounded by the "bone collector" camo edition... That crappy name seeps into all the products it's attached to and ruins them... Mostly because to pay for the name and keep the price down the gun sacrifices a reliable part for a less expensive less reliable part...
That part on the 887 was the bolt and extractor, plus the plastic parts...
Get it fixed, then sell it and buy an 870.
And next time you see "bone collector" on anything remember that to put it on a product the company had to pay for it, and may have cut corners on their product to keep cost down for consumers.
just a plain ol 887, i wont buy bone collector anything for the reasons stated about, this is the same gun as the DU 887 without the DU badge. if they cant solve the issue ive got a gunsmith who can fixer up. only bought it to be a throw around gun since thats what its designed to be, we shall see if it makes the cut or gets thrown into a lake when it gets back,

The price point is all screwed up because the "bc" edition is "worth more" than the others... Then that throws the others... Camo, wood, tactical...
Throws them all off too because cost restraints won't allow to just make the bc 887 differently to keep price down, the whole 887 product line suffers in effectiveness because of it...
But Remington knows putting "bone collector" on the side will sell more... So they do it... And are fully aware of the downfalls they allowed to cut prices, to incorporate a name.
Sad really, but its all about money.
As to the gun smith.. As far as i know there isn't a good solid fix for this bolt yet...
