With todays modern equipt I do not see where it would hurt to lower it. Howie's Daughter, Jasmine, is a PERFECT EXAMPLE. If you TEACH them about shot placement and a "lethal" distance they will respect that.

Leave it up the parents/hunters. What rifle hunters have decided to do as I don't see them controlling much more. Not a dig at them at all as I own rifles..just think we got to far away from policing ourselves and taking accountability. Current draw weight limits don't eliminate idiots...you cannot make laws for that (look at all the laws on the books now)!

I'm gonna say no to no minimum. I do however support a lowering of the minimum draw weight. I know that several youth and older hunters that would benefit from a lowering of the draw weight. But if you put no minimum draw weight then I do think that there will be some that will try going out there with out any knowledge or experience and try and kill a deer with a bow that does not meet any requirements that are needed to harvest a deer humanely.

You guys resisting this change need to realize that if a bunch of bowhunters come out and oppose this change they're going to push to make crossbows legal during archery season, I say let them abolish it.

Most of this is aimed at our youths & woman!

Most Hunters shoot as much tackle as they can handle

I cant see a guy spending $400 on a 20 # bow to hunt with

            Get real.!

Its about youth and women and elderly hunters. Many cannot draw 40#

What on earth is the use of hassling a kid whose bows only pulls 35#?

            none!
Jasmine Smith of Chester TX has killed clean as a whistle 13 or 14 hogs with bows under 40# most were killed at her parker bow set st 33# and most were clean PASS THRU!!!

Howie Smith the famous Hog guide with over 500 Bow kills on hogs is her daddy.

please Tell Jasmine aged 11 or 12 again why she can't legally hunt deer in Texas

Is the same bow she dumps boars with not Ok for Texas deer, with her 33# Parker Compound Bow?

If a GW writes that kid a ticket, I can assure you the kids will never bother hunting again with a bow.

I really can't seem to care much one way or the other. BUT you need to understand that the vast majority of folks that bow hunt are not bowhunters. We run 20 to 40 a year through our company lease. 8 out of 10 show up with poorly tuned bows and mismatched arrows from walmart. To say one or 5 people have killed critters with a 30 pound bow really has nothing to do with the great unwashed masses. JMO

Same reason I tell Colton my son...Its the law.Period.At his age he may ask why..But dose not have to know why. When he can pull 40 he can shoot deer till then he can't. I dont know why..I dont really give a rats terd why. When the law of the state we hunt in tells us he can hunt with a walmart bow at 10 do you think I should let him? I think 35 is a good weight but I cant see doing away with it.

Cotton I have hunted in Kansas and Missouri My thought on there liberal bow views is there short gun seasons..not sure on the rest of the states you posted but I would be interested in how long there gun seasons are.

Cotton, I have an updated list, just not on my home computer. I can post it tomorrow. Some have been changed and I have filled in the others with a call to their state wildlife department.

Hunter will not be hunting game animals with a bow less than 40 lbs. While she is an excellent shot, as a parent, I am not prepared for a wounded animal. She respects and loves animals and I am sure that would be the end of her bowhunting. We have encouraged her to start hunting with a rifle, but she refuses. She says bow only.

Personally, I will support 35#s and mandatory IBEP.

                            OK Kevin i hear you

Jazz will read your response here soon.

Please tell this man he has to shoot 40# or else No Bowhunting OK?

He is battling to draw 35#!

the 40# Bow Law was & is a bad law IMHO

TP&W Is in agreement too it seems

The only thing I can tell that man is thank you for serving, good form & nice taste in bows.
That being said I have always supported crossbows for people with disabilities. If he can not pull 40 he can still bow hunt with a crossbow. In Texas he can not shoot game animals at the 35 that he is struggling to pull. I still can not see doing away with draw weight all together. I think it should be dropped to 35.

BAR, for some there's no other way. Personally I'd have a real hard time swallowing that knowing I could handle a lighter draw bow that was just as effective in taking Texas game animals.
