    I did a dumb thing....need help

so I was out at my families land the other day doing some work and to combat the chiggers I loaded my boots & pants up with sulfur. Well that is all fine and dandy as I didn't have any chiggers when I finished up, but this is where the dumb part happens. I threw those pants in the washing machine with a load of my other clothes and washed & dried them. Now pretty much all my clothes smell of sulfur and I've washed them multiple times now. I've also let them soak on a mix of water/baking soda for 24 hours, that didn't work. let em soak in water/vinegar for 24 hours and that didn't work either, they still smell of sulfur. Is there anything I can do besides head to the mall for new clothes?

Where does one purchase sulphur in a form you can place it in your boots and pants?

btw..shove them all in a cooler lined with newspaper.
close lid and leave for a couple days.

Sorry, I can't help the op. But you can find powdered sulfur to use as insect repellant in some outdoor stores. Just put it in a sock for smacking your boots and pant legs.

the bug from hell. Interesting that sulfur keeps them away. Got HELL?

Maybe try some Fabreeze and just soak the heck out of them. So just deet isnt good enough to keep chiggers away? and also when do chiggers go dormant again.

Man you must have really went nuts if there is so much it wont wash out! I dont mind the smell of sulphur, and the yellow stain usually washes out. Most garden centers sell it in 5 lb bags(powder form). A good dusting usually suffices, dont over-do it.

Hang em out on the clothes line (remember those things) for a couple of days.

I know when you have a freezer go dead & want to try to clean out the smell of unfrozen food, they tell you to soak in real vanilla extract, then place coffee in it for a few days & seal off, then wash. Maybe this would work for you??

I thought you said in a previous post you grew up in Houston? How is it you are obsessed with and dont know anything about chiggers, s.e. Texas should be chigger central?Did you spend your whole life atop a penthouse apt in downtown Houston?

                        Two things to try.
Consan Triple Action 20. You can get it at Lowes or other garden centers... a gread disinfectant/germicide and pretty good at killing odors. Also get some Oxy-Clean. put a cup of that with 1/2 cup of the Consan in your washing machine and pre-fill with water. put in the clothes and cycle the washer for 5 minutes or so, then open the lid/stop the washer and let clothes soak for an hour or 2 (maybe even overnite), then finish the wash cycle. Hang the clothes up and air dry outdoors. This hot sunshine is about the best odorizer you can get.

The other thing you can do if you have an ozonics machine, put your clothes in a plastic tote or bag that is air tight and put the ozonics machine in with them and let it run til the battery goes dead..

Yep...I grew up pretty much in a Andy of Mayberry type of neighborhood in Oak Forest. Sure dont remember having issues with chiggers. Having some acreage now..I am getting to know them better now. And...dont like them.
