If you look at the concrete outside the door after the, the poor kids that were turning their lives around, hit the floor there is blood dripping out of them pretty good. He only had a .380 so it didn't have any knockdown power. But it was affective. That old guy got luck that the idiot had a .45 that was rusted and didn't work or he could have been shot for sure.

But, I have to wonder, since they didn't actually shoot at him, or anyone else, how will this play out in court?

just like you dont have to wait for someone to shoot at you...
they used the threat of violence in the commision of their act... any reasonable person would be in fear of their life as a cause of that threat... Bang.

Cant show it enough for me. I thought he shot pretty well for his age and under the circumstances. Very calm and methodical. If he was shooting a 40cal it might have looked a little different.
