PRK is the best decision I have ever made. I had it done back in 2006 before I left for Iraq and can see so good I can tell ya the future. Its a painful recovery, but from what I was told it is the best option for people who could sustain a head injury..ie military and athletes because it can be corrected easier. After six years Im still at 20/15 in both eyes. Its a little more pricey from what I remembered but when it comes to my eyes I only have two and wanted the best.
    Good luck to you

I had LASIK in 1995. Before surgery my left eye was 20/200 and my right was 20/50.
After surgery both were 20/30. Had some complications but that resolved in a few days. The last few years I've had to go back to glasses due to age changes.
I would still do it again. Bought me 15 years without glasses so it was worth it.

Lasik about 8 or 9 years ago- best money I ever spent. As far as the dust, it is everywhere, just carry some of the sterile eye drops with you and you should be ok. They will feel very dry for awhile and also be more sensitive to sunlight.

Had Lasik in 1999 when they were still using a blade. Dry Eye Syndrome is a side affect of Lasik, and it is bothersome for a shor time. I don't notice it much anymore. Close up vision is usually a alittle worse after Lasik, but I was already wearing bi-focals due to age anyway. Came out of Lasik with 20/20, now, 13 years later it has deteriated to 20/30, but I am nearly 66 years old. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Biggest poblem I have now is keeping up with my reading glasses.

I don't know what PRK is. I would look into Crystal Lense before I made a decision. Crystal lense insures you will never have cataracts.

I had LASIK 13 years ago. My vision was 20/15 immediately after and 20/10 a week after. The pain was not bad. I do have issues from time to time with dry eyes. Over the years my vision has changed and I'm wearing glasses again. I think it is more from aging. The only other thing I can think of is my left eye is dominate now and I have not perfected my shooting with this change.

My mother had the crystal lens proceedure and she sees better than I do with glasses and she's in her 70's. I think this is the way to go.

I had lasik and was dove hunting NW of Abilene a couple of weeks later. I wore sunglasses and putting drops in eyes constantly. It was pretty uncomfortable for a while but I would do it again in a heart beat. I don't miss trying to put in contacts with less than totally clean hands or glasses fogging up when climbing a tree in a climbing stand in East Tx. in early October. Go for it and never look back.

My wife had it done several years ago. Right before the docs put her under, they asked her to read a clock on the wall. She said she couldn't see the hands. After she came out of anesthesia, she read a similar clock without any problem.
Her eyes did burn like they had jalapeno juce in them, however, for several days afterward.
She was able to quit weearing glasses alltogether until just recently. She has to wear reading glasses but the doc predicted that. Said presbyopia can't be corrected with the laser.

Had it 10 years ago. Best money I have ever spent. I do have to wear sunglasses in the slightest of bright light.

Okay, sounds like I going to do it. All you guys responding saying it was the best money you've ever spent, and only one saying he wouldn't recommend it. I guess now I just need to choose a good doctor in my area and go talk to him/her. Thanks folks.

As many here know, I'm a firefighter, and do construction on my days off. How long were you out of work with your LASIK? I've got enough sick leave from the FD if I need to take a few shifts off, or I could do it while on a long vacation, but if I don't go to my part time job, I don't get paid, so taking 6 weeks off from that would be a major financial burden. A week or two I could handle, but I've come to enjoy the extra money, and occasionally need it for bills, I can't afford to not go to work for 6 weeks. I guess I could wear safety googles with the foam seal like some of the the guys overseas wear in combat, I'd just look goofy for a few weeks. I guess my question is for those who work in environments that are inherently dusty/smokey, like construction, firefighting, lawn care etc. Thanks again folks.
I just took 1 day off. Your first week, need to be very careful. As the weeks go by, the eyes (or my eyes) get better and better. You will want to use your eye protection for the first month more than maybe you usually do. Good luck!

I had LASIK done in 1997 by Dr Slade in Houston. I did one eye and then a few weeks later I did the other eye. ( I felt as though if something went wrong I would still have one good eye.) The procedure was painless, the feeling of soap in your eyes was the worst it felt and I had it done on a Friday and was back at work on Monday. I would suggest that you just protect your eyes with safety glasses or goggles for at least a week. I was 40 when I had it done and was concerned about having to wear reading glasses but was able to go for about 10 yrs before I needed cheaters. It too has been the best thing I ever did for myself. I highly recommend Dr Slade and LASIK.
