    Ranch is on fire

Went down to the ranch this weekend to finish up some work, well Saturday we noticed a fire south of our place so we drove down the the south fence to see how close it was. Seemed like it was far enough away to not worry too much about it.

Sunday we saw little to no smoke so figured it was out. Got all our stuff together and headed home. As we got home we get a call from the cattle guy that 2 of our pastures are on fire. Burned up one guys whole hunting area and a good part of another. Apparently the dozers did a heck of a job clearing fire breaks. They say it was smoldering this morning and if the wind stays down they should have it licked. We sure hope some. Should have some pics later today.

    Man it's dry out there.

very dry in Shackelford Cnty right now - Friend of mine was horseback last week on their place in Shackelford cnty when a storm cloud rolled through and said by the time the cloud was gone he could see 3 different fires that the lightning had caused in the storms passing - luckily they were all put out quickly and didn't burn more than a few hundred acres in total

sorry to hear this man... hopefully the winds stay down and they are able to keep the fire contained.

Let me guess, just NW of Albany, up by the wind farm? I drove past it Saturday and it didn't look good, we're just North of you a bit.
