Muzzle Loader question!!!

I have a Traditions Pursuit ll. I love shooting it but hate the 1.5 hour clean up. Ive heard of a different powder I could use that doesn't foul out the barrel so bad but cant find it and don't know the name of it. Ive seen it on the hunting channel but cant remember what it was. Anyone know the name of the powder and where I can get it? Does it work as good as people say? Is the clean up any easier? Need my green screen bro's help on this.

Are the White Hots compatible with a rifle that says to not use smokeless powder? I thought I read somewhere not to use smokeless powder with my rifle, but not sure if this is possibly more recent technology. Thanks for the help.

Blackhorn 209 is what you are looking for. It wont leave that bad crud ring or be as hard to clean as blackpowder.

Wow,1.5 hours on clean up? That's borderline OCD! I spend maybe 20-30 minutes on mine. Supposedly American Pioneer is the cleanest burning powder on the market(that's the one Jim Shockey is always shilling). I cant attest to that as I've only used Pyrodex in mine and been happy with it. Black powder shooting is a nasty affair regardless.

I shoot black powder in mine.
When I'm done, I pull the nipple and stand the barrel up in half a coke can.
I pour solvent in the can and push a patch down the barrel.
When I pull it up it sucks the solvent up the barrel.
I swab it in and out for three or four minutes then run clean patches in it to dry it out.
I then run a patch with Bear grease from October country to protect the barrel.
It might take 7 or 8 minutes total

I just use really hot water and dish soap. Maybe a 10 minute job with very good drying.

Blackhorn 209 all the way! It cleans up with the same solvents that you use for your normal hunting rifle. And it cleans up just as fast .

It takes me all of 10 minutes to get mine done

White hits can be used in most modern ML's. It's not smokeless powder so there are no worries there.

I did what buff does cept right before that I'd take a 60cc syringe (happens to fit nicely right over the nipple) full of potion and flush it back and forth. Little bit o denatured alcohol to dry (empty syringe back n forth makes for quick drying) everything up and I'm done. Wipe er off and done..10-15 min. But yeah, switch to one the powders listed above too. Happy Huntin'!

I shoot white hots in my CVA. When I clean it, I'll use the pre-saturated patches and it cleans up well. When I'm going to clean and store it for a while I'll use the CVA barrel foam. Once it's set for a while I'll run some dry patches, pre-soaked, and then dry patches thru it.
