    Anyone own/driven a 3.7L F150?

The 3.7 is the base model V6, not the 3.5 ecoboost. Does anybody own one or drive one as a company truck? How do the real-world mpgs, acceleration and reliability compare to the 5.0 V8? I really don't think an ecoboost is in the budget. I'm doing some preliminary research, might be looking to buy in a year or so. Thanks.

I not positive on the mpg but I would imagine that it wouldn't be that much better than a small V-8. I would think you would be in a bind on the resale side of it with a v6 in a full size truck. I just don't think there are very many people looking for a full size V6 truck.

Resale is a good point. I'm really considering this truck in lieu of a Ranger. I don't think I could do a single cab, and the extended cab Rangers don't have much of a back seat.

I know they're made here and I know they're great trucks, just not for me.

I had one, I think that was 3.8, but that was 2004, extended cab. Highway mileage for our all highway trip was 23.8 mpg. This was with the 5 speed. Plenty of power for me, no problem getting to 75 on the interstate. I would make sure that it did not have an automatic though.

My parents bought one a couple months ago and they really like it. I drove it once and it drives well. Seems to have pretty good power. I think they at a averaging 17-18 mpg. By the way Ford no longer offers the Ranger. The v-6 in an F150 is as small as they offer now.

No standard transmissions in any of the American half tons anymore. Cryin shame...

That's just silly. I would avoid a V-6 unless it was the ECOboost if it did not had an automatic.

Drive a 1/2 ton 4x4 here at work, a regular cab with the 3.7 l v-6 in it. The truck has plenty of power, with the 6 speed automatic its not a problem. I spend time off road in fields and it does just fine. According to the computer(?) it gets about 18 miles to the gallon.
