    Fall away rest question

I have a new bow with a Rip Cord rest on it. I've been using a whisker bisquit so this a little foreign to me.

My question is, how do you keep the arrow from FLYING off the rest after you draw and then let down. The Rip Cord cocks automatically on, or before the draw, but if you let down, it goes to the uncocked position and the arrow falls off.

I hope this is an easy fix or I'm going back to a bisquit.

There isn't a way to keep it on if you let the "fork" down, other than hold it with your finger. It is designed to drop when the string moves to release the arrow, thus the name "drop away."

If you decide to go back to the bisquit, I'll take your Ripcord.

I have Ripcord have had no trouble with it. You just have to deal with the fact it dosent say cocked.

I have a QAD fall away and you can cock it with your thumb or it cocks when you draw and stays cocked when you let off slow. When you draw back it resets and drops away on the shot.

          Fall away rest

I shoot a QAD Ultra-Rest HD pro-series fall away rest. Like it a lot, you can let the bow down without it falling and letting your arrow drop. It will only drop if the bow has been shot. Real good rest cost is around 125.00

I thought this was probably the case. I guess I'll shoot with it for a while and see how I like it. Right now, there is no way I could draw, hold, and let down on a deer without a HIGH percentage of spooking it.

Olphart - would you give me enough to cover the cost of a new WB?

I have shot a Rip Cord for the last couple of years and I love it. Until recently I have not had any problems. the first problem I had was that it had been served into my cable at the wrong angle, and the torque of the string downward was fraying the string that entered the rest. After a while it degloved the outer portion of the string and hung up inside the rest causing it to not release. i fixed it by taking it back and they replaced the rest. This time I had them serve it a little higher and I have not had any problems with the string. But last week I went out and shot it and the rest would work sometimes and sometimes not. I could cock it up and draw and when I release the arrow it would stay engaged and not drop. So then I tried drawing it from the downwrd position and it would raise up and if I let down it would go down, but if I fired it, it would cock itself on its own and not release. I have tried everything and is cery aggrevating. I love the Rest and don't want to change, But I gotta figure this thing out before I can get back in the woods. to answer your question about holding the arrow, It should come with a rubber reciever that sticks either to the rest itself or to the shelf on your bow that will catch it when you let down.

I have a bisquit quick shot I'll swap you for the rip cord. As a matter of fact, I'll buy you a brand new one in a trade.

Ahhhh...New info. I don't have that piece you are talking about. The bow and rest were purchased used. Maybe I'll email Rip Cord for a replacement part. They already sent me the bar that holds the arrow on...no charge and shipped for free!

that little piece along with some moleskin or something around the riser and even if you arrow fell off to the side it would still be quiet and hopefully not spook deer when letting down.... fall away's are really nice- hope it all works for you

Yeah Shock, you need the riser rest (Rubber Piece) that should solve most of your problems. I love my Ripcord, but a word of caution. Use some light locktite on your horizontal adjustment screw. I had mine loosen up on me this year on a hunt in Wisconson. Happened in the tree and was not sure if I had tightned it down at the right setting. Have since added a small paint mark with a pen so if it ever comes loose again, I can at least be real close to where I was at in a pinch. The can re-tune at a later time. That sucked !!

I need to spend some money over there anyway. Maybe I'll pick one up this weekend and give it a try. I'll hold off on the trade for now. Everyone seems to love these things so I guess I'll have to give it a shot (pardon the pun).

                          Thanks for the input!

Shock, seems like you have a lot better offers than I can make you.
I like my Ripcord and was looking for cheap backup. I never cared for the bisquit. Its all personal preference and the timing has to be right...thats why I let the shop set mine up.

Shock...that's cool you can't blame me for trying once you get that thing dialed in and performing for you, you will never go back to biscuit....for your info...the arrow won't automatically snap back into the rubber arrow holder when you let down, you will have to do that mechanically....Rick
