    corn storage

Last year I put 2 bags of corn in a 55 gal. barrel, it was sealed with a ring. The corn got damp and molded how can I store it.The barrel was sitting in the sun half a day.Would an old deep freeze work better?

Bins have fans on them for a reason. There is a certain amount of moisture in corn and if you seal it up tight it will mold.

we leave them in the bags stored in a dry container works well and we do not store a whole lot at a time.

I use a freezer but leave the door cracked open and a fan blowing on it

you also need to put a cup of diatomaceous earth in each bag to keep the weevils at bay. otherwise you'll be finding more and more dust and less and less corn even if it doesn't get moldy.

We left ours on a pallet and kept them in our barn (non climate controlled) and had no problems. We were pleasantly surprised. I think leaving it bagged was the reason it stayed good.

How about in my garage, it's dry, but hot?
