    Frequency of bow string replacement

How often should you replace your bowstring?

I have a 2008 Bowtech 101st and it has the original bowstring. It has not stretched any that I can tell. I wax it every couple of outings. It has no fraying. I took it in last year to get it replaced and the guy in the shop said the string looked fine and didn't need to be done.

When should I replace the string?

As long as it looks healthy, I swap mine after, say 3 years. They probably are still in good working order, just a reason to tinker around on my bows

I replace string and cable every 3 years unless it needs it sooner. I shoot a lot. Of course with that being said I have a friend who has the same bow and cables since the turn of the century. He is still alive and kills stuff. Im sure you will hear many opinions but I'm good with my choice.

most manufacturers say every 2-3 years. I have seen some older bows with the original string. Making sure the string is good and waxed and the bow in still in time is most important. Older strings and stretch affecting brace height, cam rotation etc.

3 year's sound's good to me, a whole lot cheaper than replacing a bow or repairing injuries due to a string breaking.
