Paracord question

I'm wanting to start working on a call lanyard and I'm wondering whether anyone has worked out a calculation/ratio for figuring out how long you need your working ends per inch of braid you want? I'm probably just going to use a cobra stitch over a 2 strand core.

I can over-estimate but I hate wasting a ton of cord.

I usually do 1 ft per inch of core length.
