    Tacoma AC Problem

Has anyone with a 2005 newer Tacoma had a problem with their AC light blinking? I noticed on the drive to work today that it started blinking and the cold air stopped blowing. I've looked it up and it's caused by the RPM's not matching or something to that nature so it doesn't allow the compressor to kick on, etc. I noticed it happend while driving through some flooded streets on the way to work. I'm guessing some water got in there and caused something to slip and caused the fault. After I was out of the water it seemed to work fine. Has any one else encountered this problem?

I haven't had that problem with mine. However, if yours ever stops blowing all together, reach under the glove box and tap that fan and it'll start back up. The fan binds up. That's the only issue I've had with my taco... outstanding little pickup. Hope you get it figured out.

It seems to be working fine now. The only thing I can think of that when I hit the puddle water splashed up and caused something to mess up. The only other problem I've had was the recirculating air button. When engaged it would make a loud click sound, and I looked in the glove box and it seems that there is a little plastic piece that moves and locks the flaps in place and apparently it was slipping. Other than that and the air baig light being on it's been a good truck lol

I clean the leaves out around the fan area on my 09, they will make some strange sounds in there. Have to do it once a year parking close to oak trees.

I have the same issue with the airbag light. Its a known issue. I just don't care enough to fix it. I think I remember there being a fix on it on the TTORA forums. Not a bad forum for info. Certainly nothing close to TBH but there's a TON of good info there.

Quite sure the belt slipped on the compressor clutch pulley due to water. The RPM sensor on the compressor will shut off the clutch if the compressor RPM does not match engine speed. Saves destroying the belt and causing further serious problems. Might double ck belt condition when things dry out as an older worn belt will sometimes slip quicker than a new one when excessive water contacts it.

Yeah I got a letter in the mail stating that it could be caused by a ribbon in the stearing wheel, but they haven't sent out a second letter about it yet.

Yeah that's what I read/figured what had happend. I don't drive through water on a daily basis nor have I in a long time, but with all the rain, streets were flooding. Is it hard to locate/replace? It's the orginal belt so I know it could be worn.

No, its not hard to do. Rotate tensioner assembly to obtain slack in belt for removal. Be sure and make an exact diagram of belt routing before removing old belt. Sometimes there is a diagram decal under the hood area, but make sure it matches the belt routing before work starts. Buy a good quality belt if you intend to drive it much longer. Cheap belts can be trouble and usually do not last as long. JOB TIME=One cold beer.

Is this the same belt in the front of thet truck? or is this another one located some where else?

Should be the main serpentine belt in the front of the engine.

My wife's Camry did the same thing a few weeks back. Seems like it was raining at the time. Hasn't done it since.

That's what I figured, one belt runs it all. I have noticed that in the monrings when it's been raining at night, or it was a hot humid night it'lls squeal as if it was slipping, but that was the first time with the blinking AC light... Guess it's time to get her fixed.

It looks like a tight fit and a pain! So you can do it with out removing any of the front grill or anything?
