Has anyone with a 2005 newer Tacoma had a problem with their AC light blinking? I noticed on the drive to work today that it started blinking and the cold air stopped blowing. I've looked it up and it's caused by the RPM's not matching or something to that nature so it doesn't allow the compressor to kick on, etc. I noticed it happend while driving through some flooded streets on the way to work. I'm guessing some water got in there and caused something to slip and caused the fault. After I was out of the water it seemed to work fine. Has any one else encountered this problem?

It seems to be working fine now. The only thing I can think of that when I hit the puddle water splashed up and caused something to mess up. The only other problem I've had was the recirculating air button. When engaged it would make a loud click sound, and I looked in the glove box and it seems that there is a little plastic piece that moves and locks the flaps in place and apparently it was slipping. Other than that and the air baig light being on it's been a good truck lol

Quite sure the belt slipped on the compressor clutch pulley due to water. The RPM sensor on the compressor will shut off the clutch if the compressor RPM does not match engine speed. Saves destroying the belt and causing further serious problems. Might double ck belt condition when things dry out as an older worn belt will sometimes slip quicker than a new one when excessive water contacts it.

No, its not hard to do. Rotate tensioner assembly to obtain slack in belt for removal. Be sure and make an exact diagram of belt routing before removing old belt. Sometimes there is a diagram decal under the hood area, but make sure it matches the belt routing before work starts. Buy a good quality belt if you intend to drive it much longer. Cheap belts can be trouble and usually do not last as long. JOB TIME=One cold beer.
