I left the RGV almost 28 years ago and the reason I left was because there was nothing there. I moved out of state and recently moved to San Antonio. Over the years I have visited and cannot believe the growth. GR8T place. South Padre...great beach and good fishing. Good hunting in South Texas.

my son will be a 4th generation McAllen bulldog this year...his great grandparents graduated in 1938 & still alive.
I love the valley but it's getting to populated for me...one of the best places in the state if you like to hunt and fish, but I miss how there is no country side in between the cities like there was when I was a kid.
Medical and manufacturing industries have turned the area into a huge industrial hub...especailly combined with farming & it's Hard keeping up with the growth.
Living on the border keeps you on your toes.It was a much better home town when I was a kid. My kids dont have the freedoms I did like riding your bike all over the place...it was just safer and less boogiemen

I was born and raised in the Valley (Raymondville) and now I moved an hour North with my job. I love the Valley and usually go back every weekend. The thing I miss the most is the fishing, i was less then 30 min from some great fishing. Its amazing how much its grown, hell now theres a BPS in Harlingen.

Welcome to the RGV. If you need anything let me know. I organize a small bow shoot with some of my buddies (usually 8-10 of us) every few weeks. We get together BBQ and fling some arrows. You're welcome to join and make some new friends. The valley is a great place with many opportunities. God bless.

The valley was and still is a great place to live and raise a family. I was born here in the early 50s, grew up on a farm in Alton, north of Mission and have only been gone for the four and a half years it took me to get through A&M. My Momma was born on Taylor Road and graduated from Sharyland HS, I believe in '41. Agriculture has always been big in the valley, but is slowly being pushed out by "civilization." It's funny to see people who move away and then come back unable to recognize anything, or like my brother-in-law thought the valley was full of adobe huts with dirt floors. I wish my sons lived here, as I miss taking them on hunting trips.
I agree with the idea of having a little get-together (pachanga) some time in the near future. It would be nice to get to know some of the other folks on the GS.
