Fast grass blends good with cane, but not matter what I always cut natural vegetation and place it on my blind when I set up. I think the raffia grass will work if you cut some cane.

I had an Avery blind on my duck boat for a while. Sold them last year.

My blind was about as dark as yours. If you weren't set up with "dark" vegetation around you, you stuck out like a **** in a punch bowl...

If you're hunting in a cane patch, use the grass... try to tie it up vertically so it does't droop down like it is in the pics...

This. There is NO substitution for real vegatation. Not just any vegetation but stuff that actually blends and is the same as the surroundings your hunting. Ive been know to dig up saltgrass and pile it up to make our hides very natural. Duck and goose hunting done right can be downright dirty!

Keep adding raffia. Add some different colors of raffia and mix them together too. That stuff is really light colored. Ill post some pics of my rig if I get time later

The Cane patch I hunt is 10ft tall an in 3 ft of water and I can pull up in the middle of it. I just wanted to add something to it I won't hunt in the open water or try to make my on island. I know the fast grass looks greats but I Already have the Avery camo that came with it.

Natrual color is the way to go i would set up in the cane and hide the boat down the bank some where if the water isn t to deep

Can't really say without seeing the spot your going to hunt. Probally would help if you took me there during season to check it out with you.

I would go with the raffia but add some of the bright green because the cane will more than likely be green for the better part of the season at least

I may add that Oleander helps you blend in with the green marsh. Its everywhere and stays green a long time. Cut a few big bundles and stick them in the ground in your hunting spots and leave it there. The moisture will keep it green and the birds will get used to it as well.

I dont take alot of pics, just too tired hunting everyday. Here is one I found that shows my boat blind, before I added extra raffia grass to fill in the gaps. It blends in perfect in the marsh, but it may be a little darker than cane, no cane where we hunt. As far as not huntng out of the boat, there are hundreds and hundreds of ducks killed out of this boat every year, to each his own I guess. The biggest thing I think you have going against you is that really dark netting you have.

If you are hunting in 7 ft. cane (10 ft. tall in 3 ft. of water), I would take the blind off, drive my boat into the thickest part, then use bungee cords to draw the cane over the boat. Even if you leave the blind on, you can still use the bungee cords to draw the cane over the opening to the top.

I'm sure you know this, but look at it from a ducks point of view. Blinds look really neat, but unless they are comin in on the deck, they serve very little purpose if you aren't covered over head. They are basically something that looks un-natural unless they blend with the surrounding. In 7+ foot of cane you will be fine if you draw it over your boat.

I have a little piece of burlap that has some supports stapled to it and its covered in raffia grass. I unroll it as much as needed to fill the gap in the boat blind it helps conceal the blind from the overhead view. Yall can keep the cane cutting and digging up plants, too much work when you duck hunt from a mobile blind day after day.
