This is from a job site in North east texas. The guy that saw it said it stood two feet off the ground, and was definately bigger then a house cat. He went under a trailer, and was a dark brown. Describes it as a mix between a bobcat/house cat... Is this a melanistic bobcat?

I saw a bobcat last year in Liberty County that was coal black. He didn't look nothin' like the one in that picture. This sucker was big and very healthy... probably feedin' on piglets cause the place is covered up in hogs... He was beautiful. I rounded a corner of an old logging road on my 4-wheeler and he came up out of a ditch into the road and looked away from me. I got stopped and he was about 40 yards in front of me standing broad side in the road. Then he turned his head and looked toward me... and disappeared like a flash! Other than the back of his ears and his tail, he was pretty much black all over... prettiest cat I ever saw. Sure was hoping to see him later at my stand so I could video him/shoot him, but as yet he has not made another appearance.
