    Axis question

Getting photos of several axis bucks frequenting where I hunt. Three of them have very similar racks and would score about the same. One has a very white face and neck, while the other two are typical in color. Is the white face an indicator of an older buck or probably just genetics? I want to harvest the oldest if I can. How else to determine age on the hoof?

    Thanks

I think the older ones look ... meaner.

    post up some pix.

I've only got 5 axis under my belt so I'm not an expert, but IMO the older ones age a lot like whitetails ... bigger necks, bigger bodies (that make the legs look shorter), and a thicker head. I think the white face might just be a genetic characteristic.
