    Good Bow Strings

Just wondering how much difference there is between good bow strings. I shoot a Outback with the Zebra. I respect the opinions of TBH members and would like to know some of them. Some of the strings mentioned here have been about Winners Choice, Bucknasty, Cracker Archery, and Vapor Trail.

You would think that Mathews would put the best string they could get on their bows.
Are the strings listed above better? Where is the best place to look at and buy bucknasty strings. Thanks in advanace for your thoughts.

In my experience with the Zebra twist strings, ANY of the others you listed would be a MUCH better choice. My experience with the Zebra is that they never quit stretching....ever.

    I'm personally a fan of Winner's Choice.
If I didn't think my opinion was right, then it wouldn't be my opinion. So, any other opinion must be wrong, therefore stupid.

I bought a bucknasty string directly from the maker off of archerytalk.com classifieds. Well worth it. His price is right and product is top notch.

I make my own strings and cables at the store. I don't charge you for instillation and re-tuning after the strings settle (about 200 shots) if I make them for you, that's part of the service. But you're a little ways away from me for that to be useful to you.

I never was a fan of the Zebra string. Like Rudey said, they never stop moving.

Winners Choice has been the standard for a long time. Nice people to work with too. A lot of new companies out there now trying to take them off the top. I personally have never dealt with the new guys, Bucknasty, Cracker Archery, etc., only with Winners Choice. I had one of their strings on an bow of mine a 6 or 7 years ago, back before I really got into making strings. Shot really well, until I sold it. Don't know what happened after that.

        Good luck.

You are not gonna go wrong with any of those choices.

Bucknasty seems to be getting a bunch of business right now with very few complaints. Priced right too!!!!!

Anything is gonna be an upgrade from the Zebra. I am convinced that Mathews strings stop stretching when they are worn out and need to be replaced. The string on my Legacy stretched for 3 years!!!!!

The trouble I had with the Zebra on my SB was not the string, but the cable, and the boys at the Bow Zone told me that it usually was the cable as opposed to the actual string that stretched. I replaced both with Winner's Choice and have not had any issues with the string or cables since then...

One other plus with the WC type string if you shoot a peep, is that it does not rotate like the zebra and other twist style strings do when you draw the bow. You don't need the rubber band thingey attached to the peep. I don't use a peep, but if I did, I'd for sure change out the string.

Corky, stone mountian bowstrings is what I use. You can get them from arrowsmith here on TBH.

I put a set of Bucknasty's on my dads Trycon and was really impressed. Very well made and you can get them in any color comb you want.

Thanks guys for the quick reply. Like I said I value the thoughts of all TBH's. This is a great place to keep up to date on whats happening around the country with other bow hunters.

My peep has been turning for 3 years with my zebra string. Think it is time to upgrade.

Mesquitecountry my email is ccredden@valornet.com mabe it will work.

                    Thanks again to all.
