Question- Crossbow vane length

I found some shrink wrap 3 inch crossbow bolt vanes on clearance and wondered if I could use them on bolts that came from the factory with 4 inch. The original vanes are fairly worn out, so I figured that I'd give them a go and see what happens. Really, my main concern is if they will be safe? Thanks.

I put 3" fusion vanes on my wife's bolts. they should work just fine. I wouldn't go smaller than 3" though (JMO)
