Too many people settle for shotty workmanship, is what it really comes down to. I have refused one before, until it was done right. If you can't do the work well in a timely fashion, because you are overbooked, then just don't take the work in and try to compensate by rushing it
I don't think they settle for shotty work, I don't think they know and that's on them.

Ignorance is bliss sometimes. I don't fault the "average Joe" for appreciating a mediocre mount (in a professional's eyes) all because it doesn't have nostril veins.
Many many folks on here will sacrifice a measure of quality & detail to save a couple hundred bucks. I don't blame them a bit and it doesn't make them any less of an outdoor/hunting enthusiast.
My old man turned 72 yesterday. Born and raised in south Louisiana. Hunted and fished his entire life. Even says that if he didn't hunt/fish as a kid, his family would have probably missed a few meals. He has more than 40 mounts in his house and is always looking for a better price. Not everyone needs a Van Gogh on their wall. My dad (God bless him) sure wouldn't appreciate it like some others would/could. He would much rather settle for a Bob Ross.

The guys I respect the most are the ones that start a thread and say "Just got my deer back and I think he looks good" or "Just got him back from the taxi and I like him". That's all that matters, if the guy paying likes it.

I've seen 3 mounts on TBH in the past month with armpit hair wrapped up the side of the mount and all the sheep on TBH tell them it looks good. No one learns that way.

judging a mount by pics ain't for meI've got blud ribbon deer that look like 3rds and lesser mounts that look like blues in pics.
I gotta say Chance, if you don't want super educated taxidermy judges, but you'll submit to a contest by a random bunch of guys judge a picture on the internet ?? WOW

Second...I think I understand what you are getting at. My suggestion was just that, merely a suggestion. I'm not going to enter an actual competition. I don't have the time or desire. That's why I said let's just throw up some pics of normal mounts. Not necessarily to be judged and ranked by the GS masses, but more or less just to show guys what we do. I never really took it as we were having a contest. I'm pretty confident in my abilities, as I'm sure you are too.
