I think you bought that from my boyfriend. I remember the truck and it looks a little better red and not black. I think they are ugly but he liked it.

I feel that form should equal function, meaning I want it to look good while still being able to complete the job I ask it to do. Right now I dont need the camper, and it only takes a few minutes to put back on, even with my wife helping. if I need it before the fall I will just put it back on, but for now, I think Ill leave it off.

My truck came with a camper on it and I originally planned to take it off. Only problem is, it's hinged on the driver's side and has a hydraulic lift to lift it to the side, so taking it on and off would be a PITA. I'll tell you this about that camper: I LOVE it during hunting season, but the rest of the year, I cuss that thing daily. I can't pull a gooseneck trailer, I can't haul large items without a trailer. The only benefit is, I can toss some tools in there, lock it up and not have to worry as much about theft, or at all about my tools getting rained on. If I had the option, I would take it off most of the year, and just put it back on before dove season. It is nice for hauling my dogs around though.

I keep mine on year round, because I'm 200 years old!
Okay, I actually keep it on all the time for the reasons most of us that have shells keep them on; to protect the contents of the truck bed from weather and theft. I didn't buy a truck for any other reason than to haul stuff around in, and to pull a trailer. The shell also becomes my home away from home during hunting season.

I never liked the looks of the topper on my truck but was always more practical than vane. I kept a !@#$ load of tools, chains, chain binders, cables, winches, generators etc under it so I would be totally self sufficient if i should break down, get stuck or need to help someone else.
The topper stayed on for 10+years till I traded it.
