I think the videos Devin posted sum it up pretty well. I just placed and order for "Under One Fence". I didn't even know it had been published. After I get a chance to look at it I would be happy to loan it to you HCD.

At work we get our water from Lake Diversion and border the ranch. I have a small place near Vernon that borders Waggoners. I drive through the ranch all the time. It still seems odd to drive over a cattle guard and not have fences on either side. The route takes me right past the headquarters and Poco Buenos cemetary. I'll take some pics when I head that way which will probably be tomorrow or Saturday. If your up this way with some time I can take you on a drive through there. I know a guy that works for them. If I call him it is possible (not promising anything) that we could get a helicopter ride out of the deal.

Last I heard, about 5 or 6 years ago the probate judge ordered the ranch sold because the two sides of the family couldn't agree on anything. I haven't heard anything about it actually being sold. If I remember right there was a deal in the works at one time but it fell through.

They do. I don't know much about horses but I've seen plenty of their ranch horses. They are STOUT! They usually keep a lot of them near the headquarters but last summer they moved a lot of the horses and cattle to either Wyoming or Montana. Maybe South Dakota? Up north anyway. I heard it was a three year lease to let the grass down here recover.

Yeah, I've heard of that horse. Famous for sure.

I'll make a mental note to check with you when I'm gonna be up that way again. Sounds like fun. Had no idea you were familiar with the area. I'll gladly reciprocate the favor if I can do anything for you.

Devin, thanks so much for posting this video and the other one as well.
I hope to get a chance to take a tour of some kind on that ranch.

There's just so much history on that ranch that I doubt even one person could learn it all in one lifetime. Sure enjoyed the video's very much. Thanks

One of my coworkers use to lease 20,000 acres for quail hunting. He said that was the only leasing they would do for hunting. He said they use to walk up on some giant bucks. He sent me several pics of bucks they saw. He also said that the little deer hunting that is done is by family members and that is VERY little.

My Uncle works for a remodeling company in Fort Worth, they are just finishing up a 2 yr job for one of the heirs to the Waggoner empire. She is married to a fellow with the last name of Williams. He is the Williams of Williams and Dickie work clothes. My uncle said that the wife has probably 20 mounts in the house that range from 150" to 200" she is a big hunter. All taken on the Waggoner ranch. Also pretty interesting is to look up Electra Waggoner. She was the daughter of Pappy Waggoner. Town named after her, also the
Buick Electra. she was a famous sculptor.

I bet there are some really impressive ones there. Hope to get a chance to see them in person one day.

I remember seeing a Dickie's distribution center on the southbound side of 287 somewhere between Bowie and Fort Worth. Don't recall at the moment which town it was closest to.

Had hoped to stop in Electra to look around, but didn't have time. Hopefully I'll get to check it out next time.

Thanks for that info. Sounds very interesting. Hope to learn more.

Thanks, I did not know about the museum, but do remember seeing the college. Will plan on taking a look for sure.

Do they also own the Waggoner ranch with Jack Waggoner at Bridgeport, they own High Brow Cat?

We have some horses with High Brow Cat, and some with Poco Bueno in them, it's hard to find a good cutting horse without them or 3 bars, Smart Little Lena, or Peppy San Badger in their pedigree.
