We always just soured up some milo in a bucket of water for about a week or two. Put a packet of yeast in it and fill it up with water and put it out in the sun. Make sure you put a lid on it, cause it gets ripe!!!
I carry a scoop (like you would find in an ice machine) and use it to sling a pound or so around the spot where I will be fishing. Sometimes I pick a spot and sling some chow, then motor to another spot and sling chow and start fishing. If I don't get hit within 30 minutes, I go back to the first spot and fish there. Might bait a 3rd spot, might go back to #1, depends on how long we're out and how strong the bite.
So most of y'all use soured milo? Do you just scoop and throw it out or put it in a chum bag and sink it?
Get you one of those fat plastic bats, cut the end of it out at an angle, and sling it out. Bat makes for good leverage, and can sling it good.
DO NOT fill bucket full with water and seal it, it WILL explode. About 3/4 full, and I wouldn't seal it, just lay lid on top. The reaction of the ingredients will expand quiet a bit.
Soured Milo is all I use. Usually fill bucket with Milo, then water, beer, and milk. Give it at least a few days in the heat and it's good to go. Catfish have a sense of smell much better than a bloodhound, so it doesn't take much. I usually pour out a cup then another half cup every half hour if the fish are biting.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was told it is illegal to "bait" fish ie: put chum in a bag and sink it, but was legal to "feed" fish ie: dump the bucket of chum in the water. Was I told wrong cause I would much rather put the food in a sack so they don't eat it all and get full or eat it all, then no more sent?
