I worked as a miner operator in the 70's back in PA deep underground. Once I found the impression of a giant fern in the slate binding the coal I had just removed. To this day it amazes me that such a delicate plant could be perfectly preserved in rock. The detail was perfect.

Don't want to hijack your thread, I was just throwing out how amazing things happen.
