M-2 yellow crepe myrtle for you

Martha, My 63 yr young "elder" neighbor came by earlier to share some brownies she had baked. She asked me to go to an address she gave me. I answered, why?....she answered just do it and take your camera.

I asked her to come with me, she did, and we drove around the block to the house and........ WTH!!!! ...........YELLOW??????...see the picure posted.

I can see pink crepe myrtles in the background as well.

LOL! No, sir, I don't believe what you and your neighbor saw is a crepe myrtle, Gilbert.
What it looks like to me is a Cassia Tree or MAYBE a Senna.
    Here's a Cassia:

NOPE Martha, IT IS A CREPE MYRTLE. It does not come close to resembling the pics you posted. I asked the lady of the house to take pics, and i looked inside the fence. The thin bark,. the same color of the long trunks growing up...are indentical to my crepe myrtles. There were other crepe myrtles that you can see in the back ground..pink. They were indentical to the one in the pic i posted, other than the color.

Hang loose, after supper i am going to ask permission to go and take a picture of the crepe myrtle trunk close up from the inside of the fence....if you want?

Wow, then! Honestly, I have never, ever heard of a yellow crepe myrtle...but of course there are always new things under the sun
Did the lady of the house tell you it was a crepe myrtle, too?
OK, this is a good question for my favorite gardening guru, Neil Sperry. May I download your pic and send it to him with the location (Baytown, right?) and ask him to comment on it?

Never seen or heard of them either. Would like to know where someone could come across a few of these...

Martha, here is a pic of the Crepe Myrtle trunk. I left the gate open so you can see that it is the same tree just on the inside of the fence pictured in the 1st picture.

oooh..........we are taking bids on our plants right now!!! My wife would LOVE about 4 of those as yellow is her favorite color! The bids are already running $3K so why not add a few of these.

OK folks, it is time to confess. Let me explain this all started out when Martha (whom i consider a good friend) made a comment on another thread that there were no yellow Crepe Myrtles. I believe that to be true. Now here is where i throw my brother under the bus. He read Martha's comment, and we both thought to play a stunt (In fun) on Martha. My younger brother "Rocky" is retired from NAZA, and he knows his way with computors, better than most (me anyway). I took a pic of my 35ft Crepe Myrtle that i had mentioned of having on the other thread that was in full pink bloom. Well, my brother (the bum?, right?) photshopped it to yellow color bloom.

I then posted the pic in an attempt to stump Martha (in fun). But i saw you folks chiming in , and before it gets out of hand, i confess on my brother crime.....well ok...mine too.

Martha, buddy it was in fun with no disrespect meant towards you or anybody else that chimed in.

Friends still?..i hope. As i said in my PM "if i didn't like you, i wouldn't pick on you".

I thought you had me on your 1st post with your opening line, LOL!, No sir, i don't believe....

And then you talked about bringing a big gun "guru" you knew in....Martha, i will give my younger brother Rocky a stern talking to on your behalf if that will keep me in your favor.LOL!

She is easy to trick. She thinks the new health care plan is great too. I say that jokingly. I respect your views M-2 even if I don't agree.

LOL! Of course, still friends! I just this second read your PM, Gilbert - I hadn't been able to peek in on TBH what with our July 4th goings on. I looked at this thread before seeing it, though, and was extremely perplexed about the trunk pic you posted...wracking my brain to try to think of ANY other shrub/tree with similar bark and configuration - nothing!

Believe me, I was VERY skeptical, and can't believe I didn't even think about this having been photoshopped...I guess I remembered how I taught you how to post pics and it never occurred to me you would have the expertise TO photoshop (I don't either, BTW). I should have considered you'd have a friend or relative who COULD, lol. Tell your bro kudos on a job well done.

Good one! And YES, I was going to send the pic to Neil Sperry to answer in his monthly e-newsletter!!

LOL, salty, I believe I am likely one of the most skeptical people on the planet (12 years of monitoring a public school email system where staff with Masters Degrees or doctorates no less, sent the silliest urban legends (right and left politics along with other more mundane stuff) to All Staff - I was continually researching the actual truth and replying All to debunk. Old habits are hard to break.. And the respect is most definitely mutual, Mr. Mule

                              And thank YOU, psicoo!
