    Spider bite help......maybe??

My 16 yoa son just got home from his summer job and asked me to look at a bite on his neck. He thought it was a spider bite because it has two "heads" side by side. He scratched it and popped one of the heads accidentally.

I circled it to watch its growth and the circle is about the size of a dime. What do y'all think?

Get some Hibiclens. It is red and comes in a green bottle. Wash the area with it. Then apply a bit of the Hibiclens on it with a q-tip or tissue, let it dry. Then apply neosporin. Do this for the next couple days. See if this helps. If it gets worse, see a Dr.

I just went through something similar and after some prodding on here I went to the doc. They said it was a spider bite OR MRSA (staph infection). If it was a note that could turn into a staph infection. Go to the doc. I'm still on antibiotics. While a spider bite isn't something to mess with, MRSA is dang sure worse. Look it up.

This is what worries me because I remember your thread and as a Dad, I don't want him to have a big hole in his neck.

              I guess what I'm asking is......do you think it's a spider bite?

MRSA. Promise you that. Go to the doctor to get Bactrim or Doxicyclin. Dont wait for the skin test to come back. From now one use antibacteria body wash. Bleach all the towels he has used.

When you pop it white stuff will come out followed by blood. Hepiclense is good but he needs some meds in him. Been there, week in the hospital. Dont play around. It got into my blood stream. Had red lines leading up my arms and acros my chest.

You guys seem to think everything is MRSA. Got news for you, a pretty good portion of the population is carrying it around as normal flora. I would clean it up good with betadine or chlorhexidine and lance it. Then just keep an eye on it while coating it with TAO 2-3x/day. Fever over 101 or chills go see someone.

You are right. Most people do have it. They carry it in the nose. But why chance it. I no longer go to the doctor for it. I have everything at home that I need for it. Most people dont though. You cant beat a good sulfa based med for it. Plus if you dont handle it right everyone in the house will get it. Cheaper to pay the co-pay and get it taken care of. Chances are it wont put him in the hospital but is 50 bucks worth the risk?

Actually this is the reason these bugs have become resistant. Treating situations where antibiotics are not indicated. You are welcome to do as you please, but I wouldn't burn down the house quite yet.
