Here's some stuff I didn't know, and wished somebody would've told me:
Before the baby arrives, have "date nights" as often as you can, budget permitting. Once the baby arrives you won't have as many opportunities for going out, unless you take the baby with you or get a sitter. If you're like us, you probably won't want to leave the baby with a sitter until they're older, unless they're your parents or other very trusted family members.
If you want to get a head start on buying diapers, don't buy too many of the "newborn" size. Babies don't stay that small for long.
Check out consignment stores for baby clothes. Babies grow so fast, that it's kind of pointless to buy a bunch of brand new clothing that they're going to outgrow in a matter of months.
They grow up fast, so enjoy every step of the way. My son just turned four and it seems like yesterday that we were finding out that my wife was pregnant.
