Just a heads up on Pearl Harbor, they sell flags in the gift shop that were flown over the Arizona. They come with a piece of paper that has the date and time of when they were flown.
I bought a flag for my dad from the shop BEFORE we went out to the Arizona and they let me raise and fly my flag out there and I recieved a second certificate with that date and time on it as well.
It was a cool feeling to get to do that if. Not sure if that was standard practice for them but I assume it was cause they were pretty casual about it.

When we went we flew over to the Big island and then to Maui also.....of all the three islands , the big island of Hawaii was by far our favorite. Not as many folks and much more layed back. I was not impressed with Maui at all even though I did get one good photo out of it

For sure, rent a jeep or a convertible. Also, there are several real cool places to hike. We went to the Manoa Falls, and that was really neat. Just google Oahu waterfall hikes, and there are several options.

                go to www.leonardshawaii.com for malasadas.
When at Dole, make sure you get the pineapple whip.
Chill at Dukes on the Beach, have a drink and watch the waves as you listen to some live music.
Waimea Bay and jump off the rock.

Keoni by Keo's has a great $3.95 pancake/bacon/egg breakfast plate. It is at the corner of Kuhio and Kuialani Ave.'s. Just a block or so off the beach front.

You have to go to some local diner and get a plate lunch. It is a Hawaiian staple. Two scoops of white rice, macaroni salad, and an entree like chicken katsu.

The flea market at Aloha Stadium is a great place to get souvenirs a little cheaper than around Waikiki. It is only open a few days each week.

Get to Pearl Harbor early. The line gets long real quick.

We played golf at Turtle Bay. It was nice, but if you go to Maui play Kapalua. Its amazing.

Germains Luau is one of the best on the island.

Like Salth said... Get to Pearl Harbor early it gets packed and tour lines get backed up up to 4 hours.

Hanauma Bay is good snorkeling and a relaxing beach.

North Shore was my favorite place on the whole island very pretty over there with big waves good eats and the shark tour was by far the most memorable experience I had there. http://www.hawaiisharkadventures.com/

Kona brewery is a fun night place with great food and amazing brews on tap.

You have to try surfing to. I was hesitant but had a blast after I got out there.

North Shore was a big one for me, PH is a must, Giovanni's for some shrimp was good but not as good as it was built up to be, I had a blast and will go back one day

As far as restraints go Dukes was the favorite for the wife and I. Just thought I'd throw that out there

                        Road to Hana
                        Bamabo forest hike
                        Great snorkeling

Going there in two weeks staying on north shore then going to big island for a few days

Check out Lanikai, nice beach, no waves but secluded and a great place to eat at Buzz's

                            Swap Meet at the stadium

Matsumoto shaved ice is a popular place for a treat

Schofield Barracks is a cool place to drive around, get on base and go to the lookout on the west side...very secluded use to have a cross on the top of the hill but was taking down for political reasons. Its the valley where Japan fighters used to fly in.

four wheeler tour on east side of island, takes you to places like where Lost was filmed and other movies...kinda lame but pretty.

We are going in a couple of weeks. Staying in a condo on the North Shore near Haleiwa. Renting a 4 door jeep, got an offshore trip booked on a 54' Hatteras, Weather permitting I'm doing an offshore kayak fishing trip as well. Snorkeling, horseback riding, eating poke, good food, etc. Playing on the beach with the grand kids, playing in the surf with a boogie board. Pearl harbor on the last day.

Was in Maui about a month ago. Had a great time. My brother and I flew the wives over to Oahu for the day so they could go swim with the dolphins. Might want to look into that if that is something you've always wanted to do. It didn't interest my brother or I, but the wives were pretty gung ho about it. They had a great time. A little pricey though
