    A/C. Is cold again...

Neighbor put in a can of:
    AC EasySeal
    And 3.5 lbs of freon

Hopefully the Easy Seal will hold it tight.
I had never heard of it.

I've used ez seal 2 times ever. I had one system with a leak under the slab and the other was a refrigerated sandwich case and it was on its last leg anyway and the leak was on a stainless part I couldn't weld shut. That stuff is expensive also. Truthfully the leak should be found and repaired. Usually it's the evaporator coil on older systems. Hope it works for ya.

Interesting... I wonder how good that stuff is? I have a very small leak on a 12 yo system myself and sure would like to make it last a few more years if it got to where I needed more than a lb a year..

My plumber says they have very good luck with it. a similar product is made for auto AC units. he says as long as the leak is not major it usually works

It's really a 50/50 shot. I've used it a few times on older systems. Half of them are still running and the other half didn't make it. The ones that died blew the compressor. A lot of it has to do with how dirty/contamination is in your system already.

Knock on wood we have had good luck with A/C leak freeze it this year! The good stuff is $60 bucks my cost a tube. Really depends on the leak and the size. There are a few heat pumps out there that the MFG'er service tubes are cracking and leaking. Then a few coils made in the last 5 to 6 years have been pressed to hard on tube sheets. Just what me and my guys have noticed. Good luck if it doesn't fix it if you have a heat pump check your reversing valve and service tube for the leak. Turn your breaker off outside unscrew the top you can make soap bubbles from dishwashing soap and water. Wipe it on or spray it on and look for the leak. If you can find it and narrow it down it will save you some labor cost getting someone out to silflose the copper. The indoor coil it's best to have a leak detector or get nitrogen and run up the pressure over 200. Found 4 evap leaks this year just by hearing the nitrogen leaking out. JB
