    TX State Parks

Lets hear it from the TBH crowd.... I am making a list of TX St Parks to visit, just wanted to get input on ones to see and ones to avoid. If anyone has any input in would be appreciated. Its just my wife and a 13yr old daughter dragging our RV around.

We seem to visit South Llano River state park in Junction every year. We'll be there next week. They have some good bike trails, the river, and a stock tank to fish in.

We traveled to and camped all of the State Parks we could get to when our son was young.

Just a few of our favorites that I can remember (that haven't already been mentioned):

                  Caprock Canyons (great mountain biking)

                  Seminole Canyon (bunches of petroglyphs)

                  Lake Mineral Wells

Rusk/ Palestine Texas State Railroad (camping in Rusk)

                  Davis Mountains

                  Balmorhea (sp?)

                  Monahans Sand Dunes

                  Ft. Griffin

Brazos Bend (plenty of wildlife watching up close alligators, Greaat birding and wildflower viewing, photography oppurtunities and mile of trails for hiking or biking)

Caddo Lake (just a really cool lake to explore and a nice park too)

                    Enchanted Rock

                    Huntsville

                    Perdanales Falls

                    Guadalupe River

                      Dinosaur Valley SP

We personally thought Cleburne SP was not worth a doo-diddly, but it was convenient for jumping over to Dinosaur Valley.

                      Lake Livingston SP

                      Lake Somerville (both units)

Caprock Canyons is pretty. Be sure to visit Turkey, TX on Bob Will's birthday!

We like the parks at Ray Roberts both parks have a park store, nice swim beach, great hiking/biking trails, fishing peers, and are only 10 miles from the house.

Martin Dies, Jr. State Park on Dam B reservior, plus you're close to both Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend lakes as well.

Meridian State Park is a really nice park outside of Meridian, TX. Small lake, no motors allowed on the water. They stock it with trout every year. Good times....
