So, I stopped sweating today ...

Rotag (on here) helped me get a job working for an environmental outfit at Samsung SemiConductor in Austin. My job is to get dressed out in a tyveck chemical suit & offload acids & solvents from holding tanks to tanker trucks.

My schedule is 4a-4p. On work nights, I limit my beer intake to 2, & none after 6p, focusing instead on hydrating with quality H2O.

Well, today we were dressed out from 5a-1p. There's 3 of us & we rotate in & out of th Hot Zone. We have cool vests, shade, & water. Nevertheless, I found myself no longer sweating at about Noon today.

Fortunately, I recognized the situation, removed myself from the environment, and spent the next hour & half cooling off & rehydrating.

Scary stuff folks. Take care of y'alls self out there in th heat.

That's being aware of what's happening--good for you. I have 6 lawns to do tomorrow, two of them w/o shade, so I'm starting really early.

Yup, I work in a warehouse and we watch each other for these signs.
        Glad you're okay.
Bad thing is, once it happens, it's more than likely bound to happen to you again.
        Be careful!

It's tough out there. Glad you found your break point before it got to bad.

Remember, you are already dehydrated if you are thirsty and your mouth is like cotton.

I remember when I broke out in the oil field many moons ago for Marine Drilling in August in the Gulf Of Mexico. We were nippling up B.O.P's on the Texas Deck and it was stagnant as can be no wind and you could see and feel the water evaporating off the Gulf. Tool pusher was standing in key way screaming at us to hurry up. One of the roughnecks told him he stopped sweating and the pusher yelled back and said "that's because you stopped working!" 20 minutes later they were medivacking this guy off the rig cause he fell out. He was never able to return back to work due to severe heat stroke. I'm glad those days are over and the industry has made a turn for the better.

Glad you identified the early symptoms to a more serious problem.

That Rotag is a job finding son of a gun. He got me in on fixing the entrance to his sub division. Welding work on a metal fence with nothing but asphalt all around. That was yesterday, talk about hot. It only took about 4 hours to do and I don't think I could have taken much more.

I've done my share of time in those Tyvek suits and the full body acid suits. I've worked some at Samsung installing some of the chemical piping on the scrubber deck. I still have to use them from time to time here at the old Sematech bulding in Austin.

Good way to lose wieght fast!

I turned down a job offer from the Samsung and chose Lockheed instead. I toured the plant and it was cool. Those bunny suits will get hot so be careful.

I run around all day in the field with body armor on training students. Once one stops sweating, i have the medic come get them. It does not take long for heat stroke to take over.
