    Transporting deer by boat

I'm going to be doing a lot of public hunting this year since I just moved out to east Texas and it is close to the house. If I drive to the public land it will take 30 minutes or so and I figured out the other day if I take my boat down the river it's only about a 10 minute drive to the river and a 7 minute ride by boat. My question is if I kill a deer am I allowed to put it in my boat and transport it that way? Is there any special law about this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i woud think it would be legal to do so as long as it is tagged properly but just to be sure i would check with the local GW and just run it by them to be sure

I don't think transport is an issue. I would be more worried about securing the boat while you were hunting, but that could be remedied with a hidden kill-switch and chain and lock.

The book says transport(ing), it doesn't say truck or boat or mule-back. I think you are good to go.

I was planning on doing that next time I see them at the lake. I have a few questions for them

We used to hunt down the Neches/Angelina rivers a lot. Never had any problems with folks messing with our boats. You are good to go on transporting deer in the boat.

Did it for years. We had to take about to get to our old lease that we were on for 25+ years. We never had a problem doing it.

Well I have a removable kill switch on my boat so I don't really have to worry about that. My biggest problem is my transom has a small leak. I gotta get that fixed pretty soon but I can find any info about doing it. Would it be cheaper to get it patched or completely replaced?
