The family and me just got back after spending a week in Ol Indian Country deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Many of y'all venture out that way in search of some cool good flowing Frio water, why me on the other hand...well, I just like to get lost in the hills in search of times gone by. It takes me away from all the stress of the life we live in today and takes me back to a time where the land was raw, wild and full of adventure. Yes, it was hard living back then but a part of me wants to go back and breathe that way of life. Of course that will not happen but that will not keep me from searching.
I found myself in an old indian camp for most of last week just taking in the views over the Frio River that the natives used to take in on a fading sunset after a hot summer day. I would walk around this camp that has been dug hard over the past few years in search of past history that would take me back to that harsh way of living. I finally settled in on an area that had not been dug right on the very edge of a small cliff back in the trees overlooking the Frio River. I sat for awhile before digging taking in the view, the breeze and the peacefulness that this spot provided. Yes, this is the place where a few natives sat late in the evening chipping away on flint making tools and arrowheads to survive into the next day....a beautiful spot it was.
I will let the pictures to the rest of the talking.

And yes, I did have to find some of the cool Frio water myself.

TILL NEXT TIME!
