    Ford mechanics.........

I'm going to replace the control arm bushings on my 2000 F150. How do you remove the torsion bar? Best I can tell is to back off the jack screw at the cross member to releive the tension, take the cross member out and then pull out the torsion bar. Is this correct?

I THINK they require a tool to un-load the tension. I don't think the jack screw has enough throw to un-load it......but I'm not certain.

I am certain that I hate torsion bars......

The end that goes into the control arm is just a big hex that fits into a pocket. The jack screws are the only adjustment I can see. I just don't want the thing to rip my arms off in the process.
