    Air Rifle for Dad

Alright fellas....I've tried doing some research on my own but to no avail.

He would mainly use it for sparrows in his bird houses but I could see him using it for rabbits as well.

What do ya'll recommend for $300?

    Thanks in advance

I recommend going to the Cabelas Bargain cave and seeing what they have deals on, my buddy got the Cabelas Outfitter Series for 103 and it is dead on accurate, smooth easy cocking, and solid trigger

              Remington Nitro Piston 22 cal.

My grandson wears the critters out with this one. The scope is quality and it shoots great. No spring. Works off an air piston. $299.00

I have 9 different air rifles and shoot an RWS model 45 more than all the rest. Very accurate and solid...I've had some of the others[Winchester .Ruger, and a couple of Gamos,] and the inexpensive ones seem to transmit a lot of vibration when they are discharged....the Beeman and the RWS seem to be very solid...don't think you could go wrong withe either of them...look at the side cockers if the have them...thing RWS 54???? the fixed barrel ,some say, gives a smidge more consistancy. And they are just like a high powered rifle...experiment with different weight and shape of pellets to find the best ones for your gun.

Forgot to add--my go-to for critters in the yard is a Sheridan Blue Streak 5mm (.20-cal) with a scope. However, it is a multi-pump type rifle. However, the squirrels and grackles hate it.

I remember the absolute joy my Father took in spotting a squirrel out in the back yard and popping him with the Ol Daisy Pump and later a pellet gun.

I have a RWS in .22 and love it. I mainly use it for turtles in my pond. See to have plenty of power, I think it shoots around 1000fps.
