Just start with a good 20% protien and you can't go wrong. As long as its a good pellet and not a butch of powder you will be good. Some people have mixed it with corn and had a good out come I guess. As for me i would never mix it with Corn. i have seen deer and coons waiste to much protien digging the corn out. If anything i would put a bag of corn in the feeder and when they empty it i would fill with only Protien. That is just Me. I have been feeding protien for 20yrs and no matter what it just takes Time for them to get on it unless others are feeding it around you. If it is raining in your area it will take longer for them to start hitting it. Other than that it all comes down to your deer numbers and the size of your ranch as to how many feeders to put out. Check around your area and see who is saleing what and go from there. Best of Luck

I will give you all an awesome secret! I save a boat load of money here in PA by feeding horse feed to the deer. Now, what I do is this, my local mill has "their" version of sweet feed for horses. It has grains, protein pellets, vitamins, minerals, etc... in it. It is not your typical sticky molasses based feed. The deer go crazy for it. It supplies roughly 18% protein. I have used this for apporx. 6 years now and can honestly say the antler growth and body size of my deer has gone thru the roof. I can get 100# of feed for right around $20.

Do some research if you want to supplemental feed. Not all feeds are the same. Crude Protein % isn't that important as only so much is digestable. Look into the mineral pkg as that is what is really important. ADM formerly known as Mooreman's Feed seems to have the complete pkg as they've been in the feed business for years and offered the great mineral pkgs for cattle before getting in the deer feed business way back when. If you're going to spend the money you might as well get the best bang for your buck.
