New to the area, and have no idea of where to try to toss a few lures. My nephew is coming up for a visit in a few days and is dying to do some fishing, anybody got any ideas as of where to go?

In Waco you can walk up and down the Brazos River off of University Parks Dr. or Martin Luther King Ave.
Or you can google Tradinghouse Lake by Mart and walk all around it and fish. By Tradinghouse Lake is also New Mart Lake.
You can also go out to Lake Waco and fish. -

bank fishing can be good, but where weve been catching fish are in the deeper water and in the skinny water by boat, theres pretty good fishing next to the Slippery Minnow on the rock ledge. koehne parks rock ledge is pretty good in the mornings as well as the areas under the twin bridges. I can get ya out to some other places if ya want just lemme know.Comment

Forgot to mention, if you are catch and releasing, go check out the Lake Waco Golf Corse. There's a big tank at the entrance that I've fished from and nobody has ever said anything to me. I've caught a ton of bass while walking that bank!
No many keepers but there was an abundance of em that made it fun
I'm not sure if it's a community pond (cuz theres a few houses on the bank) or if it owned by the golf corse.Comment

Then it could be the community pond...
I've never been asked to leave.
But ofcorse I've always kept it cleaner than I found it and let the fish go.
