Is it to late to feed protein?

Because of the price of corn being so high I have laid off feeding up untill about a week ago. I usually feed year round but turned the feeders off at the end of January. We have put a bail of alfalfa about every other week and have pics of deer hitting it now and then. My question is should I put a half and half mix of corn and protein pellets in the feeder now or would I be wasting my $ on seeing any quality antler growth because of it this fall ?

If they'll still eat it, it's not too late...

I put my feeder out last week. Was covered in deer 3 days later. You're good!

I wouldn't spend the extra money for protein. The antler growing season is already more than half over.

I know they will eat it but will it improve growth for this season? Also how great it alfalfa for deer antler growth?

That's all they are eating at my place. Corn is piled up in the ground and
The protein is gone. I mix it and they are picking through it.

Team me.. you talking about the alfalfa? Cause Ive been thinking about turing the feeders off again till end of july if they keep coming back to the alfalfa.

so you think the best thing would be to wait untill end of july to start feeding corn since there has been enough rain? BTW im hunting in burnet

Thats what I would do, heck I dont start feeding corn until September!

I think Ill just add a bial of alfalfa every week untill end of july and maybe after depending on the pic i get untill then. How about salt licks . Do yall add any of these . I just dont want to loose any of the deer i saw last year. We should have some good deer if they dont leave the property.

I understand you want to keep your deer there. How long is your feeder throwing corn each time? I think it would be way cheaper to turn down your timers to a few seconds than throwing a 16 dollar a bail of alfalfa out every week.
