    Ribs And Honey?

The wife just got back from Savannah and picked me up a bottle of sourwood honey. We're doing ribs on the Egg tonight and I was wondering if any of y'all pit masters had done a set of ribs with honey. Just go with straight honey or mix it up with something?

I smoke them for a while then wrap in foil with honey, brown sugar and butter and a little bit more of the rub you use. Put them back on the cooker for an hour or so. Then check the ribs by grabbing a bone and twisting it in a circle to see if they are done, you should be able to kinda turn the bone. Pull out of foil and back on the grill to firm up and apply any finishing sauce( you could use honey to glaze. Then pull and enjoy.

Never tried it. I always wanted too but was more concerned with burning the outside of the ribs and not cooking the inside. I use mustard and other seasonings.

I'm going to do one rack with Fiesta "Rib Rub", one with cherry yogurt and John Henry's "Wild Cherry Chipotle", and one with the sourwood honey.

My buddy uses honey and they are the best ribs I've ever had.

I slow smoke my ribs normally and then let them rest. Then mix half and half honey and a spicy red mop sauce. I cut my ribs into 3 rib sections, mop them with that spicy honey goodness and then caramelize them fast with tongs over a hot mesquite fire. Everyone I know swears they are the best ribs they have ever had.

Do not waste Sourwood Honey on ribs.

Sourwood Honey is made for piping hot drop biscuits and butter only.!!

I'd agree with that. I use relatively cheap (hill country fair HEB) honey on mine and it works fine.

Smoke as normal. Glaze at the last 30 minutes or so with a mix of equal parts honey, mustard and brown sugar, with more of whatever rub you used. Careful not to put too much heat, the sugar will burn.

Honey and parkay squeeze butter when wrapping the ribs.

If I hadn't already gotten to work this mornin, I'd be late just to stay home and make some drop biscuits! Seriously, I read the words "drop biscuits and honey" and involuntarily drooled all over my keyboard. Don't get much better than some simple drop biscuits and some good honey!

                          How'd the ribs turn out?

We frequently use honey at Bownanza.

                            Give us a report.
