    What's the deal with DPMS

You can't shoot FMJ rounds and you have to clean it after every shot for the first 25 rounds????

I've never heard any of that. There should be no problem with FMJ.

Cleaning it after every shot for the first 25 rounds is an old break in method. If you have a chrome lined barrel, ignore it completely.

That is what I've read in the warranty docs. All the cheapo rounds are FMJ, can't see spending $1 per round to plink tin cans.

Does it say fmj or does it say steel cased?

Also, if you get into reloading, you can get it down to under 20 cents per round for good stuff.

I went and looked at my DPMS warranty card. It only states to not use laquer coated steel cased rounds. Fmj's have functioned fine out if mine since 2007.....I don't even want to guess as to a round count with that gun.
