I've heard of people using dyes and then using a UV light in the dark. The dyes get into the crack and are visible under the uv light. Never done it myself though. Good luck and I wouldn't shoot it until your sure one way or the other.
Until someone can actually show you the crack. I would say cabelas was lying UNLESS they actually showed you where.
They just want you to buy a new setup with them!
Jk! Cabelas has been very helpful for me. But CCR Is the BEST

Dye Penetrant with or without a backlight will work. Any machine shop will be able to do it or you can buy the Dye Penetrant at a welding supply store. Just follow the directions on the cans.
if in doubt take it to a shop and have them take the limbs off and look at them, but most times cracks will show better when the bow is strung.
have the shop roll the axles on glass and check the cams. more times than not with today's compounds the limbs will take a dry-fire but the cams or axles will take the hit (be bent).

I've got Dye Penetrant here and would do it free of charge but I'm a little too far away. The only down side to PT (penetrant testing) is it'll permanently dye it a pretty red/pink color!
