Anyone use a throttle body spacer?

Just curious, if anyone has used a throttle body spacer to help save gas and get additional hp? My main concern is fuel economy. Thanks in advance!

I did when I had my 94 chevy. I didn't notice that much difference. I did put a 5 inch deep round K&N filter with chrome top and bottom on it and it made a big difference in fuel mileage. Now if you have this model of truck you have to make a bridge across the two posts on your throttle body with a piece of strap(can get it at TSC) then use a piece of all thread for the single post to go out the center/top of the chrome filter top. Be sure to check for clearance first! I had a three inch body lift so I had no problems. Sounded like a race car sucking air under the hood!! Have fun.

I have a 2002 GMC Z71. I found a used throttle body spacer on ebay, but I want to hear what other people have to say before I buy it.

I had one on my 06 Z71, averaged around 19 but that was with a 6 inch lift, 35's, an intake, exhaust, and a hypertec programmer

I had an 01 Tahoe, the TB Spacer did nothing but make the throttle a bit more touchy. I noticed no difference in mileage but my CAI didn't fit anymore without some major cutting.

              I've moved on since.

I put one on my 95 GMC 8 years ago and I was unable to tell little difference.
The best thing I put on my truck for mileage was a K&N air filter.

I've heard they don't do much, this link says so too:

Agree with the K&N, only if you keep it clean and don't stomp on the gas enjoying it.

Bosch Platinum +4 gave improved power, no mileage.

Dropping temp from 192 to 160 thermostat gave about 1/2 mpg, some say I'm ruining my engine. It's been 100k miles so far with the 160, I'll let you know.

Hypertech gave power and no mileage. Guy i shoot with got +3 mpg in a GMC pickup. Go figure?

Acetone in the fuel tank did nothing.

Increasing tires 245/75 to 265/75 gave about 5% 'real' increase, since truck travels further on each turn of the engine with slightly larger tires (going to 35s would reverse that due to their increased weight)

IMO, they're a waste of money ... another little gadget called the "Tornado" is worthless as well.

I had a TBS on a '97 Chevy. I noticed ZERO difference in performance OR economy.

Or you could buy a compact car.

I could, but I use my truck for a lot of stuff on the farm and for pulling my show heifers around.
